Post-Election Events for You and Well-Being Resources and More

Dear Students,

You are invited to two special post-election events to discuss yesterday’s general elections, hear expert analysis and explore the issues as a University community.

Join us TODAY at 5 PM ET for  Let’s Talk: The 2020 General Election and What's Next on Zoom. This is a space for you to be in conversation with other Columbia students to reflect, listen and share your thoughts on the election. Featured opening speakers are:  

  • Ester Fuchs, Professor of International and Public Affairs and Political Science; Director, Urban and Social Policy Program
  • John Haskins, Dean of Student Life, Columbia Journalism School
  • Tricia Shimamura, Director of Government Relations, Columbia University Office of Government and Community Affairs

Next Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 4 PM, join us for the University Life Forum: Reflections on the 2020 Election and the Road Ahead, on Zoom. You may share advance questions for panelists during registration. Panelists are:

  • Steve Coll, Dean of Columbia Journalism School; Henry R. Luce Professor of Journalism
  • Jamal Greene, Dwight Professor of Law
  • Gillian Metzger, Harlan Fiske Stone Professor of Constitutional Law; Co-director of the Center for Constitutional Governance
  • Maria Victoria Murillo, Professor of Political Science and International and Public Affairs; Director of the Institute for Latin American Studies
  • Yamil Velez, Assistant Professor of Political Science

Well-being Support

Columbia Health and CUIMC will offer post-election support spaces for all students.

  • For Morningside students: Wednesday, 11/4, 3 to 4 PM; Wednesday, 11/4, 6 to 7 PM; Thursday, 11/5, 4 to 5 PM

Community Citizenship Initiative Ends This Week

This is the final week of the Community Citizenship Initiative. If you are new to your school, you have until Friday, November 6 to complete the required Sexual Respect Initiative and Inclusion and Belonging modules

You must complete both modules to receive credit for taking the Initiative. Write to [email protected] if you have questions.
