COVID-19 Policy Reminders and Well-Being Tools as the Semester Winds Down

December 04, 2020

Dear Students,

Thanks to each of you for your ongoing commitment to keeping our community healthy. As COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise in New York and elsewhere, this commitment to ourselves – and to each other – is more important than ever. I’d like to give a special thank you to the Keeping Our Community Healthy Student Ambassadors. In this short video, Yvonne Hou from Mailman School of Public Health shares what motivated her to become a student ambassador. You can find this and similar videos in the Student Voices section of University Life's website.

Some important reminders:

  • Please keep in mind that all events are now limited to 10 or fewer people. The event policy update was made based on New York state guidance and our own data showing that social events and activities present higher risk for spreading the virus, as opposed to academic activities.
  • Activities that violate University policy off campus, including the Compact, may be reviewed through the University’s student conduct process. We ask that you step in first and support fellow students in upholding the Compact and other campus policies. You can also file a report here.

I know the last weeks of any semester can be a stressful time, even without a global pandemic. Please take care of yourselves and your friends, and remember that the following resources are always available: Counseling and Psychological Services (Morningside)Student Health on Haven (CUIMS)Religious Life, and many coping tools, including free apps and national crisis hotlines for any urgent support needs.

I am so grateful to all of you. It is an honor to be part of such an incredible community. University Life is here if you need us. Please email us at [email protected] with any questions, feedback and suggestions.

Take care,

Joseph Defraine Greenwell, Ed.D.
